13 - Basketball is more than a Sport

              Basketball is not an activity to fill in our time. We don’t play basketball because it is our hobby; basketball is more than our hobby. It is something we live about because it improves our overall health, it promotes sportsmanship and teamwork and it can be a source of financial assistance. Basketball is more than just a sport.

It improves our overall health.  There is a fact that tells that if you play basketball for an hour you will burn 630-750 calories and it makes people healthy. Furthermore, it also build endurance. Another is that it improves self-discipline and concentration.

It promotes sportsmanship and teamwork. Basketball helps to improve camaraderie on and off the court. Basketball is a team sport it teaches the players to go along with their own players to help each other win the ball game. It also tells that they should have trust their teammates to play better basketball. If one team has teamwork and good sportsmanship they will be a contender.

It can be a source of financial assistance. Basketball players who have their good talents may enter the professional league and it can be the source of their income. It can help their friends, society and of course, their families. Basketball can be one of the reasons why you can earn a lot of money. Professional league has also their sponsor for their players, this can make you get more money and become rich.

Basketball is more a sport because it improves one’s health, promotes teamwork and sportsmanship and of course it can be source of financial assistance. Basketball is more than just a sport we just have to look beyond the meaning of it.

12 - Rain

               Nowadays, our world is so much hot. People kind very irritated because of this phenomena. Throughout the year every Filipino is having a problem with heat. The farmers are one of the many persons living here that so much affected by this. With this, children and adults is waiting when the rainy season will start. 

People with so much affected by heat find many ways just to overcome it. They eat desserts, drink cold drinks and take a bath. But there is one natural way to solve this problem. By just waiting for the rainy season, with patience heat will be disappear. Rain is the answer to all problems. Rain can give us peace, joy and comfort.

Rain makes a lot of people happy. It gives us cold after suffering from a long heat. It gives water to every plants. It also helps the farmers for their crops. Rain has many uses in our daily lives. However it may cause disaster and other problems. But we should not be pessimistic about that, we just have to look more beyond the good side that rain gives us. 

 

11 - Laughter is the best medicine:

Hello to everyone who will have a moment to read my blog. I am currently experiencing cough and headache and that’s the reason why I wrote this blog.

First is that we all know that Filipinos are born happy. Even to the saddest part of our loves, we don’t forget to smile. It seems that smiling is part of every Filipino’s life. And I think possessing that characteristic of always smiling: “Laughter is the Best Medicine” is appropriate to us.

Just like what I have said, I am currently experiencing headache and cough, but I think laughter helps me to overcome this problem. At the start of the day, I kind of feel weak and stressed. I don’t know what to do. I take a lot of medications. I take vitamins and I drink juices just to give my body a support to fight against this illness.

But when the moment I stepped on our room in class and start talking with my friends. I felt different. I laugh with my friends and my body now is working differently. I am a little bit gaining back my power. And it proves that those five words for me is true.

10 - Do I have what it takes to be a Filipino

A simple question but hard for us to answer. After your long existences here in this world have you ever asked yourself if you have the qualities and the capabilities to be a Filipino. It is just easy to answer yes, but the hard thing is to explain what you have done for your own nation. For me I must say yes because of the following reasons:

“In my blood runs the immortal seed of heroes”

           

A line in the work of Carlos P. Romulo “I am a Filipino” that proves that I am a Filipino. The line tells how fortunate I am to be a Filipino. It only shows that there is a nationalistic gene that runs to our blood. A characteristic that is essential to have. It been so long when our heroes fought for our own justice and freedom, but I think at this point of time the flame in their heart that causes them to fight even though they knew that winning is not on their side is passed in this generation and I think I contain that trait.

           

I can say that I contain that trait or should I say we contain that trait. We have the capability in ourselves to face problems even though we think that there is only a little percentage for us to succeed. In short, we tend to do better if we are under pressure.  That is the flame that is burning until now. We inherit the trait that made our country and every citizen proud of their nation.

9 - HERO

"What makes someone a hero?" Before I answer let us define first what a hero is. Merriam-Webster states that a hero is a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength. With the definition given is it true that being a hero is only a mythological character? For me it is not, going back to the question, i may say that being a hero is real. And you are going to be considered as a hero if you are this: Someone who is giving help to others in different ways and Someone who is willing to sacrifice his life for his country.

Someone who gives help. I can pretty tell that if you are willing to help other people with all your capabilities, for me you are considered as a hero. Because being a hero is not only in words, it refers upon the act of the person is doing. Now a days it so much hard to find a true hero who is willing to help his fellow country men. Even me, I cannot consider my self as hero because I do not even help others. And of course, if you are helping, the most important thing is that it should be sincere. Do not help others just for the sake that you want to be called a HERO. Examples are some government officials, some just help the people so that they may get famous and got the attention of their fellow citizen. That deed is not consider as a true hero. IT SHOULD BE SINCERE. 

Someone who is willing to sacrifice his life for his country. You may say that it is so dramatic to offer your life to be recognized as a hero. Yes, maybe but that is the point. If you are willing to sacrifice your life you may be the one. Just like the heroes fought for the freedom of our country. Because you also have to recognize your country first. Fighting for the sake of your country is a big achievement that can consider you to be on the list of heroes. 

It takes guts to be a hero. It is hard to find a hero but i know that all people becomes a hero for some time, we just have to continue doing good, not just to become a hero but because it it nice to help others and for our society to grow better. 

8 - 4 Days of Fun

4 Days of Fun

    4 days of Fun, 4 days full of exciting and interesting activities, 4 days of break for Computer Science and Information Technology students. The "SoCSIT Week". One of the most awaited events in school of CSIT because of the fun that it can bring to all CSIT students. With the theme of the activity "BRING IT BACK" my experience for this event happened with a lot of fun and also disappointment.

    Tuesday, July 28,2015, the activity started with the opening. All the teachers in charge of the event were there. Each students feel the hype and the excitement for the activity. It happened in the parking lot. BUT that is just part of the activity that day. Students are required to wear a 90's costume to represent the IT throwback. We had a parade wearing those costume around the parking lot. I admit that its hot wearing those costume but its kind of enjoyable. We also had the banner contest that time where each block was required to have a banner that will represent their block. I am glad to say that we had a beautiful banner with a windows 95 theme. It is beautiful but I don't know if we won in that contest. After those activities the day is done and we are required to go back to our classes.

    The following day, it is about the fame or shame activity. Me and my group mates had to cram about the performance in the said activity. We do not want to got a low grade that may resulted to our shame. And we also know that we had to get a fame to avoid the punishment if someone got a shame. Honestly, I got nervous when I heard about that news. But I think it is an inspiration for us to do better. We came up to a plan that we were going to dance individually and after the individual dance, we will dance together. Me and my group mates had a different songs to dance. Dougie is in charge for me to dance. I don't like it at first because i know it is hard to dance. But when the moment came and we were all in the stage. Excitement replaced nervousness. I felt excited to dance in front of my fellow block mates and of course in front of the judges. Our performance is not that good, I honestly know that but we got a high score and a fame. I was shocked to know that but I am happy as well. I did not finished the whole fame or shame activity and another happy day passed by.

    Thursday, I don't know about all activities that might happen. But I know that there is a sports fest that will happen in the morning and a pageant in the afternoon. I watched the sports fest especially the basketball game because I want to watch my fellow block mates and friends, Jordan and Rene. I want to support them. It is so amazing to watch them. They are really good in playing that sport. But even they are good their opponent is much more expert in playing. They lost with a large margin because for me the game is not even. They are playing with players which is taller than them. But even though they lost I am still proud of them. And also, the pageant were my two other block mates joined and one of them won 1st runner up.

    Friday the last day of the activity I stayed at home. It is the day when SoCSIT night is going to happen. I decided not to go to the party and that caused my little disappointment. I was not able to feel the heat in that party. My block mates were there and I got jealous when I know that the enjoyed a lot. I had to wait another year to be able to join to that party. And I am now currently waiting for that time to happen. I feel the excitement just the same where the four days of just started.
