Learning Log 6

Finals is fast approaching and weeks 11 and 12 were already done. During weeks 11 and 12 our professors just discussed topics that will be included in our finals exam. To be honest, I was absent 2 out of the 4 meetings. But I was still able to catch up, I still learn about infrastructure security which was discussed this week.

I think this is the last learning log that I will be making, next week is the last week before heading to the finals. The sad part is our group still don't have our machine project. I am hoping next week after the long weekend vacation, we managed to finished everything. By the way, our project is about web application firewall.

Learning Log # 5

Week 10 is already finished and our block is heading to our last three weeks and on our last six meetings. During this two week span we accomplished presenting our debate. The topic assigned to our group was about the internet censorship in China.

We were tasked to give disagreeing motion to assess if it is advisable to adapt the internet censorship being implemented in China. It was somehow did not work well for us. When our professor, asked questions, the unexpected questions were asked. We knew our topic but it was just not that easy that time to think an answer because just like I said it was not expected. I am expecting a different type of questions to be asked. However, even though it did not work well for us, at least, we were able to present our main points and arguments.

 

Learning Log 4

Last week, we had discussions about ethics. Ethics in hacking specifically. As we all know hacking is a bad operations performed by hacker to bypass systems and get necessary information. However, during the previous two week, Mr. Pineda was able to defend and explained about hacking back is fine under some circumstances. At first it was hard to believe that hacking back is sometimes good because it is still hacking. But it just shows that hacking back is like protecting and defending your self or having self defense.

Moreover, in the span of two weeks, SOCIT days happened and we were asked to join a seminar about VR technology. It was an instruction of our prof to join the seminar. And after going to the seminar a ton of information about VR was introduced to all participants.

Learning Log 3

Dear Sir,

I regret to inform you that this learning log has been delayed. But I am sure this more than makes up for it.

Sa nakaarang dalawang linggo, sa asignaturang INFOSEC , tinalakay namin and ibat ibang batas na may kinalaman sa seguridad ng bawat mamayanan. Nakita ko na napakalawak at napakalalim ng sakop ng mga batas na nakapaloob dito.

Ngunit, mas nangibabaw sa loob ng dalawang linggo ang pagpapasaganda at pagaayos ng aming Research Paper. Ang aming tema para dito ay ukol sa pagpapaalam at pagbigay ng inpormasyon tungkol sa mga pekeng balita. Ito ay isa sa mga lumalaking problema sa ating lipunan.

Naging masaya ang aming grupo sapagkat nakatapos kami ng maaga at nakapag lahad kami ng aming proyekto ng maayos nung nakaraan sabado.

Learning Log 2 - INFOSEC

New learning log means new activities happened, new things discussed and most importantly 2 weeks of INFOSEC have passed. For 2 weeks time, we should have 4 meetings, however this time we only managed to have 2 meetings.

Even though, we met only for 2 times this past two weeks I was able to learn the different models like Bell La Padula Model, Biba Model and Clark-Wilson model. I admit that during discussion i was not able to cope up but as I read the slides and let my classmate explain it to me further and in simple terms, I was able to understand the lessons. 

But the most exciting part during the 2 week span is the research project. My group mates were able to submit our 1st draft about our topic, Fake News. It was a very trendy topic that made our group excited researching and study about it. It almost took us a week to fully finish our first draft, I hope that we make it perfect by midterms. 

I also wish that Sir Justin's Health would be fine though out the remaining of the term so that no meeting will be missed and so that we would enjoy the subject until finals.  

LEARNING LOG 1 - INFOSEC

New term, new subjects, new life. This school year marks our junior year in our college life. As we progress through our school life, my block knows that we will face tougher work loads and challenges. However there is one thing that didn't and wouldn't change - making a learning log for Sir Justin :) 

After the DNETCOM course, I am expecting that my block and Mr. Justin Pineda would cross paths again but not in another network class but with another subject. This time its about security. INFOSEC would be that subject that our prof would handle my block for the next three to four months. 

The discussion made though  the first two weeks is mainly about security concepts. Like we discussed information security. The block would able to know that confidentiality, integrity and availability makes up for information security. Moreover, we also had our first group work that would test our technical and critical thinking skills for making a solution for a set of problem. And also, research topics were assigned for every group and we are assign to make our outline that will serve as the first step of making a research for the midterms. 

I had a great time with our class through our first two weeks I expect that the fun will continue until the end. 

Learning Log 6

We are almost done! full of A term full of memories,  a term full of activities. I think, this would be the last learning log that I need to make for my DNETCOM class. 

After making the project, I thought the term is over and we will only wait until the final examination date but I was wrong. After our group final presentation, we are again in the same scenario, routing,configuring networks. The discussion look good but I find a hard time understanding the lesson.  But I am sue that i gained a lot in the course.

Since the end is fast approaching, I would like to say that I enjoyed a lot in the class!
